Storm Smart is proud to be participating in the annual Venice Gondolier Hurricane Expo on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 at the Venice Community Center.
The Expo runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27. Admission is free.
Speakers from the City that Friday will be Fire Chief Shawn Carvey, Police Lt. Andy Leisenring and City Engineer Kathleen Weeden. Speakers from Sarasota County Emergency Management, the Sheriff’s Office and Red Cross are also planned, along with ABC-7 meteorologist Bob Harrigan, who emphasizes, “We’re here to prepare you, not scare you.”
Harrigan will speak at 11 a.m. both days of the Expo.
Speaker topics will include storm prep, the role of emergency services, stormwater/flooding, evacuation centers and the County transportation plan, common myths and misconceptions, and what to do following a hurricane.
The Venice Community Center, located at 326 Nokomis Ave. S., will have seating for 300 people to listen to speakers, and standing room for more. Vendors will be offering invaluable hurricane- and storm-related information, products and services, and raffles and other giveaways are planned.
While you are there, stop by and say hello to one of our Storm Smart representatives.
