The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), led by Chairman Chauncey Goss, urges residents to prepare early for hurricane season, which runs from June 1st through October 31st. To mitigate flood risks, residents are advised to clear debris from neighborhood drainage gates, ditches, and swales, and to trim trees and remove dead vegetation before storms threaten the area.
